Make Your Journey Easy

By: Communications & Marketing Department - SIMAH - 2020

As a consumer, a lot of financial thoughts may come to your mind day and nights; yet few might be transferred into real decisions. Your finance journey, no matter how long or short it is, usually starts with an idea; an idea of buying a new Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4MATIC+ SUVs; another of traveling into beach of Copacabana where coconuts are seamless; a third of going there to the heart of the vallée de Joux  where Audemars Piguet are shinning. Yet, all such decisions need a first step to take. It is your credit report.

The credit reports provided by SIMAH are history of consumers' credit information and behaviors and do not give the SIMAH's member any decision to grant a facility or not. The consumer has the right to know members who checked his credit report during the past 2 years preceding the issuance date of the credit report and their addresses. SIMAH's member is obliged to update consumer's credit information once a week at least.

Contrary to what a lot may think, SIMAH's member is not allowed to make an enquiry haphazardly. SIMAH's member is obliged to obtain consumer's written consent upon making an inquiry. Failing to do so gives the consumer the full right to make a dispute.

Moreover, the consumer has the right to obtain his first credit report free of charge. If a member took a negative decision against the consumer, then the consumer has the right to obtain his credit report free of charge. The consumer has the right to obtain his credit report free of charge if he was a victim of any kind of fraud as long as he can prove it such as such as a proven manipulation of his /her personal information.

Some may wonder what are the negatives decisions that appear on their credit reports. Negative decision is any decision a member of SIMAH takes according to the credit report of a consumer against his interest. SIMAH shall not interfere in the decision.  The consumer has the right to raise a dispute at any time about a negative decision or any credit information contained on his credit report. If negative information is in dispute between the consumer and the member, the member shall notify SIMAH that this information is in dispute. When a consumer complains about an incorrect or incomplete data in his credit report, SIMAH must notify him about investigation results.

SIMAH doesn't side neither with lenders nor with borrowers. Thus, the consumer has the right to add a narrative in his credit report that shows his personal view on the information mentioned in his report. The consumer has no right to claim for a modification or deletion of any of the information in his credit report without submitting official documents to support his claim and to prove it.
